Leadership through Service
Ivy Collegiate Academy was founded on the belief that every student could be a citizen-leader and be of service to their school and community.
ICA’s student government plays a major role in the management of the Academy. STUGO has standing committees on food services, greening, social events, community services, fundraising and peer tutoring.
STUGO, also, runs a 4 o’clock nutritional snack bar and a 9 pm special snack service.
The members of STUGO also serve on The Honor Committee with three faculty members. The Honor Committee hears discipline cases and makes a recommendation to the Headmaster.
Prefects are upperclassman chosen by the administration to help Resident Hall Advisors. They return to campus early for leadership training and also attend a three to four day off campus adventure which emphasizes on leadership skills.
The principle of the course is based on the promise that every student can be a responsible and ethical leader serving the common good of his/her community. The course will study the characteristics of leadership as well as the study of different leadership skills and styles of recent leaders in the world.
Every November on a Saturday, each House plans and implements a community service project. Also, ICA has adopted an orphanage in Nepal that was ravaged by an earthquake. For the past two years ICA has helped the orphanage rebuilt and supply food and clothing for the victims of the earthquake in neighboring villages.
Every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday volunteer ICA students visit a local dog groomer which takes in stray dogs. Students will feed and walk the dogs.
