Harkness Table

Harkness tables, with their oval shapes and a low student-teacher ratio, are ideal for discussions.  At Harkness tables, students face each other, giving each student an equal opportunity.

There is no back row, and students are not talking to the back of another student. Students are expected to make positive contributions in every class. The discussions foster an in-depth understanding of the material and help students to grow in their ability to listen, participate and articulate their views while respecting the views of others.
